2003 Assembly Joint Resolution 86
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Joseph E. Jones.
Whereas, Joseph E. Jones was born on June 29, 1914, in Antigo, Wisconsin, and died on May 8, 2003, in Pearson, Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones married Ermine Locksmith on October 11, 1941, and she preceded him in death on September 21, 1995; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones served his country with the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during World War II and the Korean War; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones graduated from Antigo High School in 1932 and attended Bowlby Business College, the University of Wisconsin, and Northwest University for Machinists Business College; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones was first elected to the Wisconsin assembly in 1962, serving in the 1963 to 1971 sessions; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones served as chairperson of the Assembly Committee on Highways in the 1971 session, on the Legislative Council, and on the governor's Highway Safety Task Force; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones served as assembly sergeant at arms during the 1977 and 1979 sessions; and
Whereas, after leaving the legislature, Mr. Jones was elected to the Langlade County Board in 1990; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Joseph E. Jones contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mr. Jones' daughters, Bobbie Mehler of Bonduel, Judy Vitton of Crivitz, and Kitty Cook of Green Bay; and sons, Chuck Jones of Pearson and Jeff Jones of Belton, Texas.
