AB256,1,2 1An Act to amend 60.37 (4) (a) and 66.0501 (4) of the statutes; relating to:
2compatible offices and positions for city, village, and town elective officeholders.

Under current law, a volunteer fire fighter, emergency medical technician, or
first responder in a city, village, or town whose annual compensation, including
fringe benefits, does not exceed $15,000 may also hold elective office in that city,
village, or town.
This bill adds a part-time seasonal employee in a park and recreational
program to the list of occupations to which the current law applies.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB256, s. 1 3Section 1. 60.37 (4) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB256,2,54 60.37 (4) (a) An elected town officer who also serves as a town employee may
5be paid an hourly wage for serving as a town employee, not exceeding a total of $5,000
6each year. Amounts that are paid under this paragraph may be paid in addition to

1any amount that an individual receives under s. 60.32 or as a volunteer fire fighter,
2emergency medical technician, or first responder, or part-time seasonal employee in
3a park and recreational program
under s. 66.0501 (4). The $5,000 maximum in this
4paragraph includes amounts paid to a town board supervisor who is acting as
5superintendent of highways under s. 81.01 (1).

10compensation from one or more of those positions, including fringe benefits, does not
11exceed the amount specified in s. 946.13 (2) (a) $15,000 may also hold an elective
12office in that city, village, or town. It is compatible with his or her office for an elected
13town officer to receive wages under s. 60.37 (4) for work that he or she performs for
14the town.
