2009 WISCONSIN ACT 181
An Act to amend 26.39 (7) (a) and 38.04 (29) of the statutes; relating to: the master logger certification scholarship grant program (suggested as remedial legislation by the Department of Natural Resources).
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
181,1 Section 1. 26.39 (7) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
26.39 (7) (a) From the appropriation under s. 20.370 (5) (ax), the department shall establish a scholarship grant program to assist individuals who are seeking certification by the Wisconsin Professional Loggers Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association as master loggers. A scholarship grant under the program may not exceed 50 percent of the total cost of receiving the certification. The department shall promulgate rules that establish criteria for the program.
181,2 Section 2. 38.04 (29) of the statutes is amended to read:
38.04 (29) Master logger apprenticeship grants. The board shall use the moneys appropriated under s. 20.292 (1) (km) to award grants to businesses that provide technical college students with forest product internships for the purpose of placing eligible apprentices with loggers who are certified by the Wisconsin Professional Loggers Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association as master loggers.
