ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending Cambridge native Matt Kenseth on his second win of the Daytona 500.
Whereas, popular NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth of Roush Fenway Racing overcame overheating issues and radio problems as well as wet and sometimes fiery track conditions to win the 2012 Daytona 500; and
Whereas, it was Matt's second time earning the checkered flag in “The Great American Race," NASCAR's biggest, richest, and most prestigious motorsports event, having previously won in 2009; and
Whereas, Matt's road to victory began in Wisconsin, as he was born and raised in Cambridge, and he first competed in stock car events at Madison International Speedway, later establishing himself as a short track star at Slinger Super Speedway and Wisconsin International Raceway; and
Whereas, Matt has remembered his roots, and continues to operate a racing museum in Cambridge featuring cars and memorabilia from his career; and
Whereas, Matt's success has brought pride and honor to his hometown and to his home state; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature do hereby commend Matt Kenseth for his great achievements, including his latest win of the Daytona 500, and wish him continued success in the future.
