2011 Assembly Joint Resolution 13
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending law enforcement officials for keeping order at the capitol.
Whereas, over the course of the last two weeks there have been hundreds of thousands of state taxpayers exercising their first amendment rights at the capitol in a civil manner; and
Whereas, the magnitude of the rallies have undoubtedly presented numerous logistical challenges to Capitol Police, University of Wisconsin-Madison Police, the Madison Police Department, Wisconsin State Troopers, DNR officials, and other public safety officials from across Wisconsin; and
Whereas, through their coordinated efforts, public safety officials have helped maintain an orderly and secure environment for capitol staff, Wisconsin residents, and legislators, and their work has helped keep the protests peaceful; and
Whereas, public safety officials have worked long shifts to keep the peace and protect the rights of protestors to peacefully assemble to petition their government for a redress of grievances; and
Whereas, public safety officials involved in maintaining order in the capitol have conducted themselves with the utmost professionalism, and continue to do so in light of the unprecedented numbers of state residents attending rallies in the capitol; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend all public safety officials for their tireless efforts in service to the people of Wisconsin and express their gratitude for the orderly and professional manner in which they have handled the large-scale taxpayer demonstrations in the capitol.
