AB425,1,2 1An Act to amend 346.37 (1) (c) 3. of the statutes; relating to: lawful turns on
2a red signal.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, vehicles facing a red signal at an intersection may make a
right turn into the nearest lane for traffic moving to the right. No turn, however, may
be made on a red signal if lanes of moving traffic must be crossed or if a sign at the
intersection prohibits a turn.
Under this bill, vehicles in the leftmost right-turn lane of a roadway that
provides two right-turn lanes may make a right turn on a red signal into a lane that
is second to the rightmost lane for traffic moving to the right. A turn of this sort may
be made regardless of whether lanes of moving traffic must be crossed.
