2017 Senate Joint Resolution 118
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: honoring the life and public service of President George H.W. Bush.
Whereas, President George H.W. Bush was born on June 12, 1924; and
Whereas, at the age of 18, Bush joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in the midst of World War II and served as a bomber pilot during that time; and
Whereas, following his military service, Bush went on to attend Yale University, graduating in 1948; and
Whereas, after working in the private oil sector, Bush went on to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives; and
Whereas, Bush was later bestowed the honor of serving as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, advancing ideals of peace and prosperity around the world; and
Whereas, in 1976, Bush served as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency; and
Whereas, in 1980, Bush was elected to serve as the Vice President of the United States with President Ronald Reagan; and
Whereas, Bush's distinguished service to our nation culminated in 1989 as he was elected the 41st President of the United States; and
Whereas, President Bush's ceaseless activism and dedication to family will lead as an American example for generations to come; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the
senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin Legislature honors the life and public service of President George H.W. Bush and extends its condolences to his family, friends, and the nation.
