AR1,1,2 1Relating to: condemning the violence that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia, on
2August 12, 2017.
AR1,1,53 Whereas, on Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Charlottesville, Virginia, a series of
4hateful and despicable actions were undertaken by a group of white supremacists;
5and
AR1,1,86 Whereas, the State Assembly remembers and honors those who needlessly lost
7their lives that day, Heather Heyer, Lieutenant H. Jay Cullen, and Trooper Pilot
8Berke M. M. Bates; the 34 or more injured; and their families; and
AR1,1,119 Whereas, the State Assembly strongly condemns white supremacists, the Ku
10Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, and all those who rely on violence and hatred to advance their
11cause; and
AR1,1,1512 Whereas, it is our responsibility, as citizens and public servants dedicated to
13building a better Wisconsin and a better country, to denounce such acts of violence,
14and to firmly tell those who espouse bigotry and prejudice that their ideology has no
15place in our state or in our country; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
2condemn the violence that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the racist,
3intolerable views that caused that deeply tragic day.
