2003 WISCONSIN ACT 185
An Act to create 36.27 (2) (b) 4. of the statutes; relating to: exemption from nonresident tuition at the University of Wisconsin System for certain veterans.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
185,1 Section 1. 36.27 (2) (b) 4. of the statutes is created to read:
36.27 (2) (b) 4. A person who has served on active duty under honorable conditions in the U.S. armed forces or in forces incorporated in the U.S. armed forces, except service on active duty for training purposes, who meets one of the conditions in s. 45.001 (4) (a) 1. a. to d., and who is a resident for purposes of receiving benefits under ch. 45, is entitled to the exemption under par. (a).
185,1m Section 1m. Nonstatutory provisions.
(1) The board of regents of the University of Wisconsin System shall reimburse any student described under section 36.27 (2) (b) 4. of the statutes, as created by this act, who is enrolled in the University of Wisconsin System in the 2003-04 spring semester, an amount equal to the difference between the nonresident tuition paid by the student and the academic fees the student would have paid had section 36.27 (2) (b) 4. of the statutes, as created by this act, been in effect for the 2003-04 spring semester.
185,2 Section 2.0 Initial applicability.
(1m) This act first applies retroactively to students who enrolled for classes in the spring semester of the 2003-04 academic year.
