2009 WISCONSIN ACT 193
An Act to create 84.10215 of the statutes; relating to: designating and marking a portion of STH 50 in Kenosha County as the Lee and Lynn Copen Memorial Highway.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
193,1 Section 1. 84.10215 of the statutes is created to read:
84.10215 Lee and Lynn Copen Memorial Highway. (1) The department shall designate and, subject to sub. (2), mark the route of STH 50 from 60th Avenue to 70th Avenue in Kenosha County as the "Lee and Lynn Copen Memorial Highway" in recognition and appreciation of: their legacy of community service; Lee's distinguished and outstanding service as a 25-year veteran of the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department; Lynn's nationally recognized and invaluable advocacy as the Victim/Witness Coordinator for the Kenosha County District Attorney's office and as a volunteer in the community; and Lee and Lynn Copen's shared dedication to justice.
(2) Upon receipt of sufficient contributions from interested parties, including any county, city, village, or town, to cover the costs of erecting and maintaining markers along the route specified in sub. (1) to clearly identify to motorists the designation of the route as the "Lee and Lynn Copen Memorial Highway," the department shall erect and maintain the markers. No state funds, other than from the receipt of contributions under this subsection, may be expended for the erection or maintenance of the markers.
