SB144-SA12,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
SB144-SA12,1,2 21. Page 8, line 8: after that line insert:
SB144-SA12,1,6 3"(as) If a sheriff has in his or her possession a firearm that has been surrendered
4under par. (a) 2., the sheriff shall ensure that the firearm is properly maintained by
5a person competent to perform the maintenance work. For purposes of this
6paragraph, proper maintenance includes all of the following:
SB144-SA12,1,77 1. The cleaning and oiling of the firearm at least once every 60 days.
SB144-SA12,1,108 2. If the firearm is antique or rare or is otherwise similar to a museum object,
9the cleaning, treatment and other work necessary to preserve the firearm's finish,
10artwork and detailing.
SB144-SA12,1,1211 3. If the firearm is in a leather or wood case, the cleaning, treatment and other
12work, done with the proper materials, necessary to maintain the case.
SB144-SA12,1,1513 (at) A sheriff to whom a firearm has been surrendered under par. (a) 2. is liable
14for any damage caused to that firearm, or any case in which the firearm is encased,
15while it is in the possession of the sheriff.".
