SB109-SSA1,1,4 1An Act to amend 940.20 (1) and 946.41 (2r); and to create 946.41 (2t) of the
2statutes; relating to: causing soft tissue injury or great bodily harm to a law
3enforcement officer when resisting or obstructing arrest, soft tissue injury
4caused by a prisoner, and providing penalties.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB109-SSA1, s. 1 5Section 1. 940.20 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB109-SSA1,1,96 940.20 (1) Battery by prisoners. Any prisoner confined to a state prison or
7other state, county, or municipal detention facility who intentionally causes bodily
8harm or a soft tissue injury to an officer, employee, visitor, or another inmate of such
9prison or institution, without his or her consent, is guilty of a Class H felony.
SB109-SSA1, s. 2 10Section 2. 946.41 (2r) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB109-SSA1,1,1211 946.41 (2r) Whoever violates sub. (1) and causes substantial bodily harm or a
12soft tissue injury
to an officer is guilty of a Class H felony.

1Section 3. 946.41 (2t) of the statutes is created to read:
SB109-SSA1,2,32 946.41 (2t) Whoever violates sub. (1) and causes great bodily harm to an officer
3is guilty of a Class G felony.
