SENATE AMENDMENT 3, TO 2011 SENATE BILL 57

SB57-SA3,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB57-SA3,1,4 1. Page 2, line 7: after "sentencing" insert "and actions affecting state employees in the office of the district attorney, the Public Defender Board, and the circuit courts".

SB57-SA3,1,5 2. Page 33, line 22: after that line insert:

SB57-SA3,1,6 " Section 99m. Nonstatutory provisions.

SB57-SA3,1,8 (1) Actions affecting state employees in the office of the district attorney, the public defender board, and the circuit courts.

SB57-SA3,1,12 (a) In the interest of promoting public safety and convenience and the general welfare, the legislature declares that its intent is to prevent a lack of prosecutorial and defense bar counsel and state-supported court staff for the operation of the criminal justice system.

SB57-SA3,2,7 (b) During the 2010-11 fiscal year, the director of the office of state employment relations may not take any action relating to requiring unpaid leaves of absence, imposing permanent or temporary layoffs, or eliminating the positions, or any part thereof, of any state employee in the office of the district attorney, the public defender board, or the circuit courts without the approval of the joint committee on finance. The joint committee on finance may only approve of such actions by a recorded, roll call vote.".
