AJR109-ASA1,1,2 1Relating to: creating a joint committee to weigh the pros and cons of a potential
2solution to public assistance structure issues.
AJR109-ASA1,1,93 Whereas, programs administered by the department of health services or the
4department of children and families under which the department of health services
5or the department of children and families provides services, benefits, or other
6assistance to individuals or families have eligibility parameters that may currently
7create a disincentive for participants to accept certain wage increases or job
8promotions due to the potential loss of benefits without sufficient income to replace
9these benefits; and
AJR109-ASA1,2,210 Whereas, there exists under the current structure of public benefits a "fiscal
11cliff" in which, for example, an employee might turn down a job promotion with a
12small hourly pay increase because the small pay increase might cause the employee's
13income to be outside the income eligibility thresholds such that the employee could

1lose all childcare subsidies or other public benefits at once and, as a result, be
2economically worse off; now, therefore, be it
AJR109-ASA1,2,5 3Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That a joint committee
4shall be appointed to weigh the pros and cons of a potential solution to these issues
5that will not cause harm to recipients of public assistance.
