(2) (a) To make broadband expansion grants to eligible applicants for

6(2m) Grants awarded under this section shall be paid from the
appropriation 7appropriations under s. 20.155
(1) (q) and (3) (r).
In each fiscal year, the total amount
8of the grants may not exceed $1,500,000.

(2) (am) To make broadband expansion grants to organizations
11specified in sub. (1) (ac) 1., telecommunications utilities, or political subdivisions for
12geographic information system mapping and surveying related to existing
13infrastructure and demand for broadband access. An applicant is eligible for a grant
1of no more than $10,000 under this paragraph only if the applicant intends to
2subsequently apply for a grant under par. (a) and provides matching funds or in-kind
3contributions that are equal to at least one-third of the cost of the mapping and
4surveying. In a fiscal year, not more than 10 percent of the total amount awarded
5in grants under this section may be awarded as grants under this paragraph. A
6recipient of a grant under this paragraph shall submit the results of the mapping and
7surveying to the commission.”.
