SB542-SA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
SB542-SA1,1,3 21. Page 1, line 3: after “benefits" insert “, methods of filing for claims for
3unemployment insurance benefits,".
SB542-SA1,1,4 42. Page 2, line 1: before that line insert:
SB542-SA1,1,5 5 Section 1c. 108.08 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB542-SA1,1,106 108.08 (1) To receive benefits for any given week of unemployment, a claimant
7shall give notice to the department with respect to such week of unemployment
8within such time and in such manner as the department may by rule prescribe,
9except that the department shall permit such notice to be given to the department
10via telephone
.
SB542-SA1,1g 11Section 1g. 108.09 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB542-SA1,2,512 108.09 (1) Filing. Claims for benefits shall be filed pursuant to department
13rules, except that the department shall permit claims for benefits to be filed via

1telephone
. Each employer that is notified of a benefit claim shall promptly inform
2the department in writing as to any eligibility question in objection to such claim
3together with the reasons for the objection. The department may also obtain
4information from the employee concerning the employee's eligibility, employment or
5wages.”.
SB542-SA1,2,8 63. Page 3, line 2: delete that line and substitute “(1) The renumbering and
7amendment of section 108.24 (1) of the statutes and the creation of section 108.24 (1)
8(b) and (c) of the statutes”.
SB542-SA1,2,9 94. Page 3, line 3: delete “applies" and substitute “apply".
SB542-SA1,2,11 105. Page 3, line 6: delete “Unemployment insurance; criminal penalties for
11benefit fraud.
