The bill moves the appropriations for administering the Judicial Commission to the Supreme Court. Under current law, the Judicial Commission, composed of five nonlawyers appointed by the governor with the consent of the senate and two judges and two state bar members appointed by the Supreme Court, investigates any misconduct or permanent disability of a judge or court commissioner. The Supreme Court reviews the actions of the Judicial Commission and determines the appropriate discipline or action to take in response to the Judicial Commission's investigation.
