1995 Assembly Joint Resolution 69
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Michael R. Baribeau.
Whereas, Michael R. Baribeau was born on September 1, 1957, in the city of Rice Lake and died on December 19, 1995; and
Whereas, he attended St. Joseph Grade School, graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1975 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Barron County Campus at Rice Lake while working for his father at the family's business, Baribeau Implement Company; and
Whereas, in 1977 he became a reserve police officer for the city of Rice Lake; and
Whereas, Mike was the first officer to participate in the "Officer Friendly" program and is fondly remembered by many Rice Lake children for his warm, generous nature and his ability to communicate with young people; and
Whereas, he served on the Rice Lake police force for 14 years; and
Whereas, he gave his life in the line of duty while helping neighboring Rusk County officials as a member of the Barron County Emergency Response Team; and
Whereas, Mike will be remembered for his bright sense of humor, his devotion to his family and friends, his dedication to his community and his active membership in the Trinity Lutheran Church and Rice Lake Masonic Lodge; and
Whereas, Mike was an exemplary human being and police officer; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the legislature of the state of Wisconsin express their appreciation for Michael R. Baribeau's record of public service, express their deep sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family, friends and fellow police officers; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mike's wife, Cindy; to his children, Katie Lynn and Paul Michael; and to his parents, Ray and Rosemary Baribeau.
