1995 Assembly Joint Resolution 82
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Karl J. Goethel.
Whereas, Karl J. Goethel was born on April 7, 1930, in Eau Claire, and died on February 23, 1996, in Durand; and
Whereas, he was elected in November of 1958 to the assembly to represent the first assembly district of Eau Claire County; and
Whereas, Mr. Goethel was elected in November of 1964 as District Attorney of Pepin County, and was reelected to that office every 2 years since; and
Whereas, during his public service career as District Attorney of Pepin County, Karl J. Goethel earned the respect of his legal colleagues, judges, defendants and courthouse elected officials and employes as an individual of legal expertise, personal integrity and honesty; and
Whereas, based on present records of elected district attorneys, Karl J. Goethel held the distinction of being Wisconsin's longest serving district attorney; and
Whereas, as a lawyer and prosecutor, Karl J. Goethel demonstrated a unique sense of humor and wit, which became a trademark of renown; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commend Karl J. Goethel on his dedicated public service as a legal officer of Pepin County and the state of Wisconsin, express their sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Mr. Goethel's wife, June Ann, and to his children, Elizabeth Schuster, Jennifer Eisenbraun, Nancy Goethel, Karl Goethel and Michael Goethel.
