1997 Assembly Joint Resolution 131
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: petitioning the federal government to support the recommendations of Representative Klug's task force on the Badger Army Ammunition Plant.
Whereas, the future use of the Badger Army Ammunition Plant, which is located between Baraboo and Sauk City, is an important issue; and
Whereas, Representative Scott Klug has headed a task force on that subject; and
Whereas, that task force recommended that aids in lieu of taxes be paid on that property, that federal support for environmental remediation and the removal of unsafe structures be continued, that contracts that authorize use of part of that property and the railroad line be continued, that adverse effects on the owners of adjacent land be avoided, that the land be used in a number of compatible ways and that ownership and management of part of the land be transferred to this state; and
Whereas, the task force's recommendations are sensitive to the needs of the area in and around the plant and are rational; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature urge the federal government to implement the recommendations about the Badger Army Ammunition Plant that Representative Klug's task force made; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to each member of this state's congressional delegation.
