1997 Assembly Joint Resolution 99
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women's Volleyball Team for its accomplishments during the 1997 season.
Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women's Volleyball Team completed its best season ever with 30 victories and only 3 loses and was ranked number 5 in the country; and
Whereas, that team was the Big Ten Conference Champions with a 19 and 1 conference record; and
Whereas, in compiling this record, they faced one of the tougher schedules in Wisconsin history, playing 11 teams that participated in the NCAA postseason tournament; and
Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-Madison women's volleyball coach, John Cook, was named Big Ten Conference Co-coach of the Year; and
Whereas, 2 University of Wisconsin-Madison women were named "All Americans", 3 were "All District" selections and 4 were named to the All-Big Ten Team; and
Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women's Volleyball Team set a season attendance record of 62,227 spectators and brought excitement to the Field House and a new appreciation of the sport of volleyball; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commends the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women's Volleyball Team for its most successful season in history; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to John Cook, coach of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women's Volleyball Team.
