1997 Senate Joint Resolution 35
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Ruth Radatz.
Whereas, Ruth Radatz was born in Mellen on August 6, 1921, and died in Kenosha on November 2, 1997; and
Whereas, Ms. Radatz attended Kenosha schools and graduated from Kenosha High School; and
Whereas, she became a Kenosha alderman in 1964 and later became the first woman to serve as president of the Kenosha City Council; and
Whereas, she served as Kenosha County Treasurer from 1972 until 1986 and as a member of the Kenosha Unified School Board from 1986 until 1989; and
Whereas, Governor Lucey appointed her to be the chairperson of the Wisconsin Mass Transportation Task Force; and
Whereas, she brought to the public positions in which she served a rare combination of technical competence, compassion and political acumen; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature recognize the decades of devoted and effective public service that Ruth Radatz gave to the residents of the Kenosha area, express their sorrow at her death and extend their condolences to her family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Ruth Radatz' son, Clark; her brother, Charles Blaim; and her sister, Inez Lehman.
