ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending the Wisconsin Elks Association on its 100th anniversary.
Whereas, the Wisconsin Elks Association was organized on April 23, 1902, and is celebrating its 100th anniversary in providing services to the citizens of the state of Wisconsin; and
Whereas, the affiliated member Lodges of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks donate their time and energy in providing service to youth, activities, and programs, such as scholarships, drug awareness, hoop shoot, soccer, scouting, sporting events, and other activities; and
Whereas, these same lodges have provided substantial support of our armed forces during various wars and conflicts that the United States was involved in, and continuously provide social, recreational, and rehabilitative services to our hospitalized veterans and conduct Flag Day services; and
Whereas, the Wisconsin Elks Association established a respite camp for the handicapped, in cooperation with the Easter Seals Program, and erected and maintains its facilities at Camp Wawbeek in the Wisconsin Dells area; and
Whereas, the Wisconsin Elks Association and its member lodges provide services to the communities, such as providing and delivering Christmas baskets and dinners, providing and delivering hospital equipment to those in need, conducting high school postprom and other parties, providing meals and social activities to residents in nursing homes, and recognizing law enforcement, fire, and civic personnel; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin assembly gratefully appreciates and acknowledges the annual monetary and in-kind contributions of over $1,500,000 made by the Wisconsin Elks Association and member lodges to the citizens of the state of Wisconsin during these past 100 years; and, be it further
Resolved, That the Wisconsin assembly appreciates the future dedication that the Wisconsin Elks Association has committed, itself, to the citizens of the state of Wisconsin.
