2001 Senate Joint Resolution 50
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Jerome Meyer.
Whereas, Jerome Nicholas "Cork" Meyer was born on November 3, 1918, in Waunakee, Wisconsin, and passed away on March 30, 2001; and
Whereas, he graduated from St. John's School in 1932 and from Waunakee High School in 1936; and
Whereas, in 1942, he attended Whitewater State University and studied Army Administration at the Mississippi Southern College; and
Whereas, he served in the United States Army from November 1941 to October 1945, including 20 months overseas in North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany; and
Whereas, after being honorably discharged, Jerome attended Madison Business College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and
Whereas, on February 12, 1944, he married Muriel Riley at St. Ann's Chapel in Ipswich, Massachusetts; and
Whereas, Jerome was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church and an active member of St. John's Knights of Columbus and the Holy Trinity Tri-County Fourth Degree Council; and
Whereas, he was a member of the Waunakee Village Board for 10 years and a longtime Assistant Chief Clerk of the Wisconsin State Senate, retiring in 1982; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the life of Jerome Meyer as a shining example of public service in the best tradition of Wisconsin and mourn the passing of a friend and associate; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mr. Meyer's daughters, Marianne E. Meyer, Donna J. Doyle, and Jerilyn M. Dahmen, all of Waunakee.
