2005 Senate Joint Resolution 32
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and military service of Army Captain Benjamin Donald Jansky.
Whereas, Army Captain Benjamin Donald Jansky was born on September 11, 1976, in Waukegan, Illinois, and died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in Al Taqaddum, Iraq, after his Humvee was accidentally struck by another military vehicle; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky served with distinction as a mechanic for the Army in HHC Company, the 983rd Engineer Battalion, and assigned to the 42nd Infantry Division, based in Al Taqaddum, Iraq; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1999; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky, while at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky was a member of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps while a student at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky met his wife, Kate Jansky, in 1994 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. They were married in 1998 and settled in Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky was the loving father of 2 young daughters, Emma and Rayna Jansky; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky had a great love for his Lord and was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, and soldier; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky made a tremendous positive influence on those who knew him and he was wise beyond his 28 years; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky made the ultimate sacrifice for his country while working towards freedom for the people of Iraq; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky was honored with the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal; and
Whereas, Captain Jansky will always be remembered for his loyalty and duty for the Army and for the cause of freedom, for his love and devotion for his family and friends, and he will never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the life of Captain Benjamin Donald Jansky of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Captain Jansky's wife and 2 daughters, Kate, Emma, and Rayna, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; his father and stepmother, Donald and Kathleen Jansky, of Fox Lake, Illinois; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Maureen Wieczorek, of Ridgeway, Wisconsin; his grandfather Richard Finch, of Florida; his brother Jerry Beasley of Plainfield, Illinois; and his sisters Maria Fricano of Mundelein, Illinois, and Amber Meltzer of Lake Villa, Illinois.
