2007 Assembly Joint Resolution 105
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Dominic Frinzi.
Whereas, Dominic Frinzi, a proud Italian American and a pillar of the Milwaukee Italian American community, born of first generation Sicilian American parents and father to three children, Joseph, James, and Dominic, passed away on January 28, 2008, at the age of 86; and
Whereas, Dominic Frinzi graduated from Marquette University Law School in 1951 and served as a prominent Milwaukee attorney for more than 50 years, during which time he served as a Milwaukee County circuit court commissioner for more than 40 years and tried cases in each of Wisconsin's 72 counties; and
Whereas, Dominic Frinzi was serving his record seventh term as the president of the Italian Community Center, served as president of the National Italian American Bar Association, UNICO, the Italian American service organization, and served as correspondent consul, to the Consul General of Italy in Chicago; and
Whereas, Dominic Frinzi received many awards and accolades over the years, including the Justinian Society's Justinian Man of the Year Award, the Italian Community Center's Theodore Mazza Community Service Award, the Milwaukee Ethnic Council's Vision for Milwaukee Award, the Fraternal Order of Eagles' Italian Person of the Year Award, UNICO National's Dr. Anthony P. Vastola Gold Medal Award for service, and was knighted by the Republic of Italy and given the title Cavaliere all'Ordine del Merito della Repubblica Italiana, or Knight of the Order of Merit, for his accomplishments as an Italian American; and
Whereas, Dominic Frinzi was a proud advocate for the arts in the city of Milwaukee, serving on the board of directors for the Florentine Opera Company for many years; and
Whereas, Dominic Frinzi was also well known in the world of harness horse racing where he was a long-serving president of Harness Horsemen International, a member of the International Harness Horsemen Association Hall of Fame, and one of the sport's most vocal supporters; and
Whereas, Dominic Frinzi leaves behind a legacy of passionate devotion to his family, friends, community, and city; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the time, energy, and passion that Dominic Frinzi contributed to this state and to his community, express their sorrow at his passing, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Dominic's three children, Joseph, James, and Dominic.
