2007 Senate Joint Resolution 14
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and military service of United States Army Corporal Matthew Grimm.
Whereas, Matthew was born on October 7, 1985, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and died on January 15, 2007, of injuries sustained from enemy action in Mosul, Iraq; and
Whereas, Matthew has a brother, Andrew, currently on active duty with the National Guard in Iraq; and
Whereas, Matthew was a 2004 graduate of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids where he played football, wrestled, and dabbled in weightlifting, and enlisted in the Army in 2004; and
Whereas, Matthew served with distinction in 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Bliss, Texas, where he was a M1A1 Armor Crewman, MOS 19K, and was in his first tour of duty in Iraq; and
Whereas, Matthew's family and fellow citizens are very proud of him and know that he died doing what he wanted to do: serving the nation and fighting for freedom; and
Whereas, Matthew embodied the Army's core values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage and he will be sorely missed; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Matthew Grimm and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to Matthew's parents Eldon and Jean Grimm and to his brother Andrew Grimm.
