2009 Assembly Joint Resolution 113
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: proclaiming March 2010 as Professional Social Work Month.
Whereas, the White House officially recognized March as National Professional Social Work Month beginning in 1984; and
Whereas, this year's theme, “Social Workers Inspire Community Action," reflects the work and contributions of social workers around the nation, including the more than 5,800 licensed social workers in Wisconsin who work daily to inspire community action to improve lives; and
Whereas, social workers advocate for inclusion, fairness, and nondiscriminatory access to services that help people reach their full potential; and
Whereas, people who become professional social workers believe that there are no limits to human potential and use their talents to help others lead rewarding lives; and
Whereas, social workers are employed in schools, courtrooms, drug treatment clinics, hospitals, senior centers, shelters, nursing homes, the military, disaster relief, prisons, and corporations; and
Whereas, social workers are on the frontlines, developing social programs that are responsive to such human concerns as homelessness, poverty, family breakup, mental illness, physical and mental disability, alcohol and substance abuse, domestic violence, and many other issues; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature proclaim March 2010 as “Professional Social Worker Month."
