ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and military service of Sgt. Ryan C. Adams.
Whereas, Sgt. Ryan C. Adams of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, was born on December 7, 1982, in Brookfield, Wisconsin, and died defending our freedom in Logar Province, Afghanistan, in Operation Enduring Freedom on October 2, 2009; and
Whereas, Sgt. Adams was deployed with the Wisconsin Army National Guard's 951st Engineer Company (Sapper) in his second tour of duty following his first tour in Iraq from May 2003 to April 2004 with Company C, 724th Engineer Battalion; and
Whereas, Sgt. Adams graduated from Rhinelander High School in 2001 where he was the Hodag Football Quarterback, played golf and baseball, and is remembered as a natural leader who inspired his teammates; and
Whereas, Sgt. Adams volunteered and served the Angel on My Shoulder nonprofit cancer support group that runs camps for children affected by cancer, visits cancer patients at hospitals and clinics, and provides weekend retreats for cancer caregivers and cancer survivors, further evidence of Sgt. Adams' compassion and commitment to others; and
Whereas, Sgt. Adams' parents are Peter and Jalane Adams and his sister is Amanda Adams; Sgt. Adams is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and fellow soldiers whose lives are richer because of him and his shining influence; and
Whereas, Sgt. Adams loved serving his country and was an exceptional soldier who was incredibly proud of and valued his role in the Wisconsin Army National Guard; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Sgt. Ryan C. Adams, mourns his death, and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues.
