2009 Senate Joint Resolution 33
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and military service of United States Army Sergeant Steven J. Christofferson.
Whereas, Steven J. Christofferson, born September 5, 1988, son of Michell Christofferson and brother to Dakota and Dillon Christofferson, died on April 21, 2008, of injuries sustained from a roadside improvised explosive device in Bayji, Iraq; and
Whereas, Steve was a 2006 graduate of Cudahy High School in Cudahy, Wisconsin, where he was on the track and football teams, and he enlisted in the United States Army a week after his high school graduation in June 2006; and
Whereas, Sergeant Christofferson was very proud to represent his country and to serve in the United States Army; and
Whereas, Sergeant Christofferson was in his first tour of duty in Iraq, and he received four medals including the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart along with a posthumous promotion to sergeant; and
Whereas, Steve is remembered as someone who was always smiling and fiercely devoted to those whom he loved, and his family and friends will remember him as a kind, thoughtful, and caring older brother and person; and
Whereas, Steve felt a deep affection for his country and the ideals it holds dear, and he served the United States and its citizens with determination and respect and was the example of duty, selflessness, and honor; and
Whereas, Steve will be sorely missed by all of those who knew him and by those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Sergeant Steven J. Christofferson and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to Michell, Dakota, and Dillon Christofferson of Cudahy, Wisconsin.
