2011 Senate Joint Resolution 54
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and military service of United States Army Corporal Justin David Ross.
Whereas, Cpl. Justin D. Ross was born on September 14, 1988, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the son of Rev. Ronald and Deborah Ross, and died on March 26, 2011, in the Helmand province of Afghanistan as a result of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit; and
Whereas, Justin was a 2007 graduate of Bay Port High School and a 2009 graduate of Universal Technical Institute; and
Whereas, Justin entered the United States Army Reserves in 2006, was attached to the 428th Combat Engineer Company of Wausau, and then deployed with the 863rd Engineer Battalion; and
Whereas, Justin was mobilized in August 2010 and deployed to Afghanistan in October 2010 as a combat engineer, whose job was to clear routes of danger and debris so other troops could move through the area; and
Whereas, Justin was posthumously promoted from specialist to corporal and was awarded ten military awards, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, and the Meritorious Service Medal; and
Whereas, Justin embodied the Army's core values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal service, and he will be sorely missed; and
Whereas, Justin was the beloved son of Rev. Ronald and Deborah Ross, brother of Nathaniel and Collin, and dear friend to many, and his family and fellow citizens are proud to have known him and admire his devotion to family, faith, and country; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature commemorates the remarkable life of Justin David Ross and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to Justin's parents, Ron and Debbie Ross, and Justin's brothers, Nathaniel and Collin Ross.
