2015 Senate Joint Resolution 49
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commemorating the 160th anniversary of Miller Brewing Company in the state of Wisconsin.
Whereas, Frederick Miller settled in Milwaukee with a special brewer's yeast and an ambition to brew "confoundedly good beers;" and
Whereas, Frederick Miller founded Miller Brewing Company in 1855 to achieve that ambition, which it has done for the past 160 years with an unwavering commitment to quality; and
Whereas, Miller Brewing Company continues that legacy today through MillerCoors, a family of breweries that includes the most talented and professional brewmasters in the world, who brew beers with high-quality and often local ingredients while holding themselves to the most demanding brewing standards in the industry; and
Whereas, Miller Brewing Company and MillerCoors are an economic engine for our country and our local communities, providing family-supporting jobs to more than 8,000 employees nationwide, spending more than $5 billion for goods and services from thousands of suppliers, and contributing more than $1 billion annually in state, local, and federal taxes; and
Whereas, Frederick Miller knew the importance of civic leadership and sustainable business practices, traditions that continue today as Miller Brewing Company and MillerCoors remain deeply rooted in the communities in which they brew and sell beer through their support of local charities, their commitment to responsible consumption, and their efforts to reduce water and energy usage and waste in brewing; and
Whereas, Miller Brewing Company and MillerCoors will forever stand for quality and stand for beer, and the 160th anniversary of Miller Brewing Company is worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature hereby declare September 24, 2015, as Miller Brewing Day in Wisconsin.
