The prayer was offered by Pastor Nathan Gauerke of the Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.
Representative Wieckert led the membership in reciting the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

Representatives Sinicki and Plale introduced students from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning in Milwaukee. Accompanied by their choir director, Amy Gruszewski, the students sang "Solidarity" from the front of the podium.
