ANNOUNCEMENTS, ADJOURNMENT HONORS, AND REMARKS UNDER SPECIAL PRIVILEGE
Senator Jauch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Shirley Hayes, owner of The Big O tavern in Rice Lake. She is the recipient of a Trailblazer Award for Women in Business, a group of awards given out by the Governor and the Wisconsin Women's Council to recognize women business owners in Wisconsin. This is the first year this award has been given, and Shirley served as an inspiration for the creation of these awards, as the Governor and the Wisconsin Women's Council wanted to recognize businesses run by women that have stood the test of time. Shirley received one of three Torch Awards, which are given to businesses founded by women that have been run continuously by women through at least three generations. Shirley Hayes is the 4th generation of women in her family to own The Big O, which has been in business within Hayes' family for over 110 years, started by her great-grandmother in 1896.
Senator Wirch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Army Private First Class Tim Herrmann, 19, of Kenosha, who had shrapnel lodged in his tailbone area and injured his knee in an attack by a hidden, roadside bomb in Iraq on Saturday. I wish him a speedy and full recovery.
S65 Senator Darling, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Jessica Tormey for her 10 years of service in my office (1/3 of her life) and wish her well with the University of Wisconsin Government Relations.

Senators Jauch and Roessler, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Jon B. St. John II of the Town of Vinland, who was killed in Iraq on January 27, 2007. Jon was a soldier based with a cavalry unit in Fort Hood, Texas. Our thoughts go out to his family.
Senator Roessler, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Heather and Joe Leibham on the birth of their first child, a son, Andrew Joseph Leibham. Andrew arrived at 7:44 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2007 weighing in at 8.0 lbs. and measuring 20 inches.
Senator Lassa, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of honor of two brave fallen soldiers from the 24th Senate District. Lance Cpl. Jesse Tillery and Cpl. Matthew Grimm were killed while serving in Iraq and will be missed terribly by their family and friends. Lance Cpl. Jesse Tillery was a 2005 graduate of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids and a member of the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Jesse died December 2, 2006 from wounds suffered during combat in Anbar province. Cpl. Matthew Grimm was a 2004 Lincoln High School graduate and was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigate Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Bliss, Texas. Matthew died January 15, 2007 from wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device in Mosul, Iraq.
Senator Lassa, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Trent Rasmussen who ran for the 70th District Assembly in 2002 and owned Renegade Game Birds marketing game birds, nationwide. Trent was also president of the North American Game Bird Association and Secretary of the Sportsman Club at the time of his death. He was active donating money, birds and time to help the handicapped get into the sport of hunting. Trent died January 6, 2007 of carbon monoxide from a fire at his home in Rudolph.
Senator Taylor, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. whose birthday we celebrated this month.
Senator Kapanke, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Crawford County, Wisconsin in the southwest part of the state which was on January 25 cited by America's Promise headed by General Colon Powell as one of one of 100 Best Places in America to Raise Children. Congratulations to Crawford County.
