Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Cullen, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Patrick J. Lucey, Wisconsin’s 38th governor. Governor Lucey will be celebrating his 95th birthday this month.
Senator Taylor, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Raymond Harmon, her deputy chief of staff, who passed away recently. Ray was an extraordinary man of courage, humility, and strength. Because of Ray, Wisconsin is one of the leaders in organ donations. He will be greatly missed by the Senator, his son, and friends and family.
Senator Harsdorf, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Brian Magnuson, who is job shadowing the Senator. Brian is a student at Hudson High School and is here spending the day learning more about the legislative process.
Senator Wirch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Tom and June Brand. They are receiving the Boys and Girls Club’s Mary Frost Ashley Patron Saint Award. They provide financial support to the club, as well as raffles and silent auctions. They are major donors to the Capital Funds Campaign and annual supporters of the Boy and Girls club in many different ways. These two people help our Boys and Girls Club do a great amount of work in Kenosha.

Senator Lassa, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Eden Voelker. Eden was recently honored by the Waushara County Sheriff’s office and EMS. On February 8, 2013, Eden and her two younger sisters were the last ones riding their school bus when their bus driver suffered a medical emergency. Eden called 911 and was able to stay calm and composed as she answered all the dispatch center’s questions until medical units arrived.

Senator Jauch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Joe Barabe, who has been the mayor of Mellen for 23 years. Joe is well regarded in the entire region for his love of his community. Joe is battling cancer, and Senator Jauch would like to wish him a speedy recovery.
Senator Jauch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Dennis DeRosso, the Iron County Board Chair. Dennis has been battling cancer for well over two years, and yet he has shown up each and every day in the office to do his duties as county board chair.
Senator Schultz, with unanimous consent asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Steve Kohlstedt, who is retiring after 30 years at the UW-Extension. Steve is one of the most well regarded, well liked individuals in Richland County because of the job he has done. Senator Schultz wishes him well in his retirement and thanks him for a job well done over the last 30 years.
