AB210,1,2 1An Act to create 110.072 of the statutes; relating to: establishing a cellular
2telephone traffic emergency hotline.

This bill requires the department of transportation to establish a statewide,
24-hour, toll-free telephone number that the public may use with cellular
telephones to report suspected traffic offenses, accidents or other emergencies.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB210, s. 1 3Section 1. 110.072 of the statutes is created to read:
AB210,1,10 4110.072 Cellular telephone traffic emergency hotline. (1) From the
5appropriation under s. 20.395 (5) (dq), the department shall provide a 24-hour,
6toll-free telephone number for use by the public to report by cellular telephone
7suspected traffic offenses, including operation of a motor vehicle under the influence
8of an intoxicant or a controlled substance, traffic accidents or other emergencies. The
9department shall publicize the toll-free telephone number as widely as possible in
10the state.

1(2) On receiving a report under sub. (1), the department shall contact the law
2enforcement agency of the jurisdiction in which the reported action occurred or is
3located or shall dispatch state traffic patrol officers to the scene.

AB210,2,6 5(1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 6th month beginning after
6publication.
