AB459,1,2 1An Act to amend 43.57 (4) (c) of the statutes; relating to: the membership of
2a county library board.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a county board may establish a consolidated county library
to serve the residents of the county who do not live in municipalities that have
libraries and to improve the library services of municipal libraries. Currently, the
county board chairperson, with the approval of the county board, appoints a county
library board to govern the consolidated county library. A county library board must
include, among other members, a school district administrator of a school district
located in whole or in part in the county. This bill permits a county library board to
include the designee of a school district administrator of a school district located
wholly or in part in the county.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB459, s. 1 3Section 1. 43.57 (4) (c) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB459,2,24 43.57 (4) (c) Boards appointed under pars. (a) and (b) shall include at least one
5school district administrator of a school district located in whole or in part in the
6county, or that school district administrator's designee, and one or 2 county board
7supervisors. Boards appointed under par. (b) shall include, in addition,

1representatives of existing library boards under s. 43.54 and persons residing in
2municipalities not served by libraries.
