2information on marriage documents to law enforcement officers performing

Under current law, the state registrar or a local registrar may disclose
information from a birth, death or divorce or annulment certificate or a marriage
document, except certain information collected for statistical or medical purposes,
to a federal, state or local agency if the information requested is for use in conducting
the agency's official duties.
This bill requires the state registrar or a local registrar to disclose information
from a marriage document, except for certain information collected for statistical or
medical purposes, if the information is requested by a law enforcement officer who
is performing an investigation.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

AB608,2,55 69.20 (3) (d) The state or a local registrar may disclose information from the
6vital record of a specified registrant, except information under sub. (2) (a), to a federal
7agency, to any agency of the government of this state or to any agency of a county, city,

1town or village if the agency requests the information for use in the conduct of its
2official duties. The state or local registrar shall disclose information from a marriage
3document of a specified registrant to a law enforcement officer, as defined in s. 51.01
4(11), if the law enforcement officer requests the information for the performance of
5an investigation.
