Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law requires the department of natural resources (DNR) to provide a
one-time grant in the 1993-95 fiscal biennium to a nonstock, nonprofit corporation
organized in Wisconsin to help groups to create nonprofit conservation organizations
and to provide technical assistance to those organizations in certain areas such as
management, real estate transactions and receiving federal income tax exemptions.
The corporation must provide $25,000 in matching funds.
This bill requires that DNR make another such grant of $75,000 in fiscal year
1996-97 to such a corporation. The bill also authorizes DNR to make such a grant
on an annual basis beginning in fiscal year 1997-98.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
