1995 - 1996 LEGISLATURE
February 6, 1995 - Introduced by Representatives Musser, Jensen, Owens and
Ainsworth, cosponsored by Senator Schultz. Referred to Committee on
Colleges and Universities.
AB93,1,2 1An Act to amend 38.22 (5) of the statutes; relating to: admissions to a
2vocational, technical and adult education district school.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under administrative rules promulgated by the state board of vocational,
technical and adult education (VTAE), a VTAE district board must give priority in
admissions to district residents over state residents who are not district residents.
This bill prohibits a VTAE district board from making such a distinction when
admitting students.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB93, s. 1 3Section 1. 38.22 (5) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB93,1,94 38.22 (5) The board shall promulgate rules establishing the priority to be given
5by a district board in admitting students who are residents of the district, students
6who are not residents of the district but are residents of
this state and students who
7are not residents of this state. In admitting students, a district board may not give
8priority to a student who is a district resident over a student who is a state resident
9but not a district resident.
