AJR17,1,43 Whereas, the current national milk marketing and dairy price support system
4is antiquated and disconnected from economic reality; and
AJR17,1,75 Whereas, the entire system continues to turn on the price of manufacturing
6milk in the upper Midwest and the distance of any particular market from Eau
7Claire, Wisconsin; and
AJR17,1,128 Whereas, this system places Wisconsin's dairy farmers at a comparative
9disadvantage compared to other milk-producing areas of the nation and sends
10wrong signals to milk-producing areas of the country, especially when considering
11their agricultural infrastructure and inherent suitability for the production of milk,
12to the disadvantage of Wisconsin dairy farmers; and
AJR17,1,1513 Whereas, the impending 1995 federal farm bill will present an opportunity to
14right the inherent injustices of the current system by reconnecting it to market and
15economic forces; now, therefore, be it
AJR17,2,2 16Resolved by the assembly, the Senate concurring, That the members of the
17Wisconsin legislature request Congress and Secretary of Agriculture Daniel

1Glickman to fundamentally revise the milk marketing and dairy price support
2system in 1995; and, be it further
AJR17,2,5 3Resolved, That that the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
4resolution to each member of this state's congressional delegation and to Secretary
5Glickman.
