AJR23,1,32 Whereas, Raymond C. Bice was born on April 5, 1896, in his parents' home in
3La Crosse, and died on December 14, 1994, in La Crosse; and
AJR23,1,64 Whereas, he was elected to the La Crosse County Board and later served as
5President of the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce and, together with Errol Olsen,
6founded Bice-Olsen Lumber and Millwork Company; and
AJR23,1,87 Whereas, he was first elected to the state assembly in 1946 and served until
81953, when he was elected to the state senate, where he served until 1969; and
AJR23,1,129 Whereas, upon retirement from politics, he devoted himself to painting and
10writing and was a regular contributor to the La Crosse Tribune, where he reflected
11on the history of La Crosse, and he also authored 2 books about La Crosse's rich
12history; and

1Whereas, Raymond C. Bice was an active member of St. Luke's United
2Methodist Church, a community leader and a well-respected historian and
3professional magician; and
AJR23,2,74 Whereas, the combination of his political instincts, his devotion to pubic
5service, his compassion, his genuine affection for others, his hard work and his
6integrity made him a highly respected legislator and trusted friend of all who knew
7him; now, therefore, be it
AJR23,2,12 8Resolved by the assembly, the Senate concurring, That the members of the
9legislature of the state of Wisconsin express their appreciation and respect for
10Raymond C. Bice, express their deep sorrow at his death and extend their
11condolences to his family, his friends and the thousands of constituents whom he
12served so well; and, be it further
AJR23,2,15 13Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
14resolution to Raymond Bice's children; Elizabeth Bice, Raymond Bice, Jr., James
15Bice and Richard Bice; and to his sister, Janet Jarchow.
