AJR60,1,2 1Relating to: urging Congress and the President to enact legislation to allow
2concurrent receipt of military longevity pay and disability benefits.
AJR60,1,43 Whereas, integral to the success of our U.S. armed forces are those service men
4and women who have made a career of defending this country; and
AJR60,1,65 Whereas, military retirees who have at least 20 years of active service receive
6retirement pay based on longevity; and
AJR60,1,87 Whereas, some of these retirees may be eligible for compensation for a
8service-connected disability from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; and
AJR60,1,119 Whereas, an inequity exists in that the federal government denies these
10retirees concurrent receipt of retirement pay and compensation for a
11service-connected disability; and
AJR60,1,1412 Whereas, they may receive one or the other, or must waive a portion of their
13retirement pay, equal to the amount of their veterans disability compensation
14benefit; and
AJR60,1,1715 Whereas, each veteran adjudicated as having a service-connected disability
16should be entitled to just compensation for his or her sacrifice and contribution of
17military service; and

1Whereas, no such deduction applies to other federal civil service employes;
2disabled retirees who have held a nonmilitary federal position receive both full
3retirement and full compensation for their service-connected disability; now,
4therefore, be it
AJR60,2,9 5Resolved by the assembly, the Senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
6legislature hereby respectfully urges the Congress of the United States and the
7President of the United States to enact legislation to allow full, concurrent receipt
8of military longevity pay and service-connected disability compensation benefits;
9and, be it further
AJR60,2,13 10Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
11resolution to all members of the Wisconsin delegation to Congress, the presiding
12officers of the U.S. house of representatives and the U.S. senate and the President
13of the United States.
