2discontinue funding for the Citadel.
AR29,1,43 Whereas, Shannon Faulkner attempted for 2 1/2 years to join the Citadel, the
4South Carolina state military college; and
AR29,1,65 Whereas, Shannon Faulkner was the first woman cadet in the 152-year history
6of the cadet corps; and
AR29,1,87 Whereas, Shannon Faulkner broke down barriers for women in the Citadel;
8and
AR29,1,109 Whereas, the male students at the Citadel demonstrated demoralizing,
10despicable and outrageous behavior against Shannon Faulkner; and
AR29,1,1211 Whereas, the male students' intolerance of change and misguided attitudes
12have made them a national spectacle of which America should be ashamed; and
AR29,1,1513 Whereas, Shannon Faulkner, unlike her male counterparts, has proved herself
14to be competent to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States;
15and
AR29,1,1716 Whereas, Shannon Faulkner dared mighty things and won; now, therefore, be

1Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin Assembly
2commend and thank Shannon Faulkner for her courage, strength and excellent
3example to all men and women and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and,
4be it further
AR29,2,7 5Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin Assembly request the
6Wisconsin congressional delegation to seek discontinuation of all federal funding to
7the Citadel; and, be it further
AR29,2,11 8Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
9to Shannon Faulkner, the members of Wisconsin's congressional delegation, the
10Secretary of Defense, the speaker of the South Carolina General Assembly and the
11attorney general of South Carolina.
