Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the department of development (DOD) to conduct a study on
its business development functions and those of the small business development
centers managed by the University of Wisconsin-Extension to determine if it would
be more efficient to consolidate those functions. DOD must report its findings to the
legislature, the governor and the secretary of administration by December 31, 1995.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB173, s. 1 2Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions; development.
SB173,2,2 3(1)  Study on business development functions. The department of
4development shall conduct a study that analyzes its business development functions
5and those of the small business development centers managed by the University of
6Wisconsin-Extension. As part of the study, the department of development shall
7determine whether greater efficiency would likely be achieved through a
8consolidation of those functions. By December 31, 1995, the department of
9development shall submit a report of its findings, conclusions and recommendations

1to the legislature in the manner provided under section 13.172 (2) of the statutes, to
2the governor and to the secretary of administration.
