1997 - 1998 LEGISLATURE
December 11, 1997 - Introduced by Committee on Highways and Transportation.
Referred to Committee on Highways and Transportation.
AB656,1,3 1An Act to amend 30.12 (4) (a) of the statutes; relating to: interdepartmental
2coordination of certain environmental protection measures applicable to
3transportation projects.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, no permit is required from the department of natural
resources (DNR) for highway and bridge work that is directed and supervised by the
department of transportation (DOT) and that involves the placement of structures
or the deposition of material in navigable waters of this state if the work is
accomplished in accordance with interdepartmental liaison procedures established
by DOT and DNR for minimizing the adverse environmental impact, if any, of the
work.
This bill exempts any transportation project directed and supervised by DOT
from having to obtain a permit from DNR to place structures or deposit material in
navigable waters if the transportation project is accomplished in accordance with the
interdepartmental liaison procedures.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
