AB890,1,3 1An Act to amend 30.66 (3) (a), 30.66 (3) (b) and 30.69 (3) (d); and to create 30.66
2(3) (c) of the statutes; relating to: operation of motorboats in excess of
3slow-no-wake speed in certain areas.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law prohibits the operation of motorboats, including personal
watercraft, in excess of slow-no-wake speed within 100 feet of any dock, raft, pier
or buoyed restricted area on any lake. This bill expands the areas where a person
may not operate a motorboat or a personal watercraft in excess of slow-no-wake
speed to include lake shorelines. The bill also increases the required distance for
personal watercraft from 100 feet to 200 feet. For other motorboats, the required
distance remains 100 feet.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
