AJR10,1,32 Whereas, Oscar Laper was born on July 13, 1915, in Green Lake county and
3died on September 29, 1996, in Baraboo; and
AJR10,1,54 Whereas, he graduated from Markesan High School and completed the
5Commercial Course at Northwestern College in Watertown; and
AJR10,1,96 Whereas, Mr. Laper served on the board of the Town of Excelsior for 40 years,
7including 15 years of service as chair, and on the board of supervisors of Sauk County
8for 40 years and was the Midwest Director of the National Association of Soil and
9Water Conservation Districts; and
AJR10,1,1110 Whereas, he served in the assembly from 1967 to 1971 as a Republican
11representing Sauk County; and
AJR10,1,1312 Whereas, during his tenure in the assembly he served diligently on the
13Education Committee, the Labor Committee and the Taxation Committee; and
AJR10,1,1514 Whereas, Mr. Laper was also a skilled organist and played that instrument
15professionally; now, therefore, be it
AJR10,2,2 16Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
17legislature of the state of Wisconsin commend Oscar Laper's many years of public

1service, express their sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family
2and friends; and, be it further
AJR10,2,4 3Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
4resolution to Mr. Laper's wife, Lois, and to his daughter, Myrna Armstrong.
