AJR127,1,32 Whereas, Curtis McKay was born on October 10, 1926, in Chicago and died on
3March 23, 1998, in Sheboygan; and
AJR127,1,54 Whereas, he received his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College and a
5law degree from Northwestern University; and
AJR127,1,66 Whereas, he practiced law in Milwaukee and Chicago; and
AJR127,1,87 Whereas, he was elected to the assembly in 1960 and reelected in 1962, 1964
8and 1966; and
AJR127,1,109 Whereas, he served as assistant majority leader for one session and as majority
10leader for one session; and
AJR127,1,1411 Whereas, Mr. McKay was a delegate to 3 Republican National Conventions,
12served on the State Elections Board, was a member of the Bay Lakes Regional
13Planning Commission and was the legal counsel for the Management Trustees of the
14Wisconsin State Laborers' Pension and Employment Fund; and

1Whereas, he was the chairman of the board and general counsel of Kohler
2General Corporation from 1980 until his retirement in 1995; and
AJR127,2,43 Whereas, Mr. McKay was an avid flyer from the age of 14 and owned a
4twin-engine Cessna aircraft; now, therefore, be it
AJR127,2,8 5Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
6Wisconsin legislature salute the many years of effective public service that Curtis
7McKay rendered to the people of this state, express their sorrow at his death and
8extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
AJR127,2,11 9Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
10resolution to Mr. McKay's wife, Ruth, and to his children; Thomas McKay, Joan
11Winters-Nisewander, Janet Haupt and Kimberly Schmidt.
