AR18,1,1 1Relating to: proclaiming Chosin Few Day.
AR18,1,42 Whereas, in June 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea to begin the Korean
3War, which lasted 3 years and, for the first time, engaged the United Nations in a
4military conflict, fought by a coalition of 22 countries led by the United States; and
AR18,1,65 Whereas, the brave men and women who served in that war left a legacy of
6unselfish courage as they fought to stop the Communist aggression in Korea; and
AR18,1,117 Whereas, for 10 bitterly cold days of November and December 1950, troops of
8the 10th Corps of the UN Command clashed in the Chosin Reservoir with
9Communist China's vast army, which had come to the aid of North Korea, and the
10ensuing battle cost many Allied lives but protected the American supply route for
11food, medicine and ammunition; and
AR18,1,1412 Whereas, on May 15, 1998, survivors of that terrible struggle will gather in
13Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, for a reunion of their "eternal band of brothers", the group
14known as the Chosin Few; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
2proclaim May 15, 1998, Chosin Few Day in recognition of the courageous service and
3sacrifices of those who fought with honor in the Chosin Reservoir.
